Meet Letitia Hamer!

Vocalist

Letitia Hamer, M.A. earned her Masters of Arts in Vocal Performance from Azusa Pacific University in 2003 where she studied under Brenda Reinebach. Letitia is a versatile vocalist who has been performing professionally for over 30 years, as well as teaching voice for 27 years.

 

Her vocal career has included many live and recorded performances in the areas of opera, classical, spirituals, Broadway, contemporary gospel, black gospel, reggae, country and pop.  During Letitia’s time at APU, she toured the US and Canada with the Azusa Pacific University Choir & Orchestra. She was also a featured soloist on UCO’s album, Our God is With Us and a vocalist on the album, Honor and Praise.  From 2001-2006, Letitia was a back up singer for the world-renowned Christian reggae band Christafari, sharing the stage with such artists as Kirk Franklin, Jennifer Knapp, All Together Separate, Stitche and the Love Circle. She has toured with Christafari to London, the Netherlands, Jamaica, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah and across the US.  She recorded on Christafari’s album, Gravity and To The Foundations.

 

During her graduate studies at APU, she taught voice and assisted the late Dr. Kimasi Browne with the APU Gospel Choir. In 2006 she became the director of the APU Gospel Choir taking the choir on tour to Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, San Francisco, Florida, St. Croix and Antiqua.

 

One of Letitia’s most proud moments in her career was in 2007 performing with the LA Opera in the production of Porgy & Bess as a chorus member. The show ran for 2 months and within the year it was syndicated.

 

She presently teaches elementary school music in Cedar Hill, TN and she sings in the worship choir at her church, Mosaic in Clarksville, TN.

 

Letitia has a 16-year old son, Obinna (California) and lives in Clarksville with her new husband, Patrick and her 13-year old daughter, Makenna.
